Gamalytic alternative for indie developers: track your own Steam game
DreamEp, Founder of NextWishlist · Checked
Short answerGamalytic is a Steam market database: sales, revenue, players and wishlist estimates for any game, from $25 a month. NextWishlist answers a different question: it reads your own game's real wishlists from Steamworks every night, compares it with the upcoming games that share its tags, and turns that into a daily marketing plan.
Developers often look for a Gamalytic alternative when what they need isn't market research but help with their own game before launch. Here is what each tool does, from Gamalytic's public pages, and when each one fits. We make NextWishlist, so read this as our comparison.
01What Gamalytic does
Gamalytic is a database of Steam games with sales, revenue, player and wishlist estimates, filters, history and an API.
- Wishlist estimates for all games, and sales and revenue estimates, including pre-order games (Starter plan).
- Players by country, player overlaps, and history of visual assets such as capsules and trailers (from June 2024).
- On the Professional plan: history since 2015, regional sales from June 2024, daily and monthly active users from 2023, review sentiment, and wishlist overlaps and distributions.
- An API: 2,500 requests a day on Starter, full access on Professional.
Price: A free tier; Starter at $25 a month; Professional at $75 a month or $810 a year, with a 30-day money-back guarantee (pricing page, read October 29, 2026).
02What NextWishlist does
- Reads your real wishlists every night from Steamworks, with a read-only key you create and can revoke: nothing to type or upload.
- Brings in Steam's UTM report, so each post, video and link shows the wishlists it brought.
- Compares your game every day with the upcoming games that share its tags: followers, growth and their channels, and what caused a jump when one takes off.
- Turns it into a short daily plan: must-dos first, then tasks with their reason and a tracking link, placed on Valve's calendar (Next Fest, themed fests, sales).
- Workshops for the Steam page, trailer, demo, press kit and creators, and your own AI (Claude, ChatGPT or any MCP app) connected to your game's analysis.
- Read-only: it never posts for you and never touches Steam. In private beta, with a waitlist.

04Which one to choose
Choose Gamalytic if
- You're sizing a genre, a price or a deal and need sales and revenue estimates for released games.
- You need history, country splits or an API for research.
Choose NextWishlist if
- Your game isn't out yet and the question is how to get more wishlists.
- You want your real wishlists explained, post by post, without exporting anything.
- You want to know what the games of your niche are doing this week, and what to do today.
They don't overlap much: Gamalytic to read the market, NextWishlist to run your own game's marketing. Many developers will use a market database once in a while and a daily tool every day.
